Medication Assisted Treatment or "MAT" is an evidence-based practice that combines pharmacological interventions with substance abuse counseling and social support. It is an essential part of the comprehensive array of services available to people struggling with addiction to alcohol or other drugs.

The U.S. Department of Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) define MAT as the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.  MAT is clinically driven with a focus on individualized patient care.

A comprehensive assessment is conducted by a staff social worker and if the individual is eligible for MAT an appointment is made with the Medical Director for further evaluation. The treatment plan for the MAT Services includes medication, group and individual counseling with toxicology monitoring and medication management by the Medical Director. No one is accepted in the program without a counseling treatment plan commitment.
